Net Worth – Increase by 45% for 2016

The method I use to calculate my net worth is here.  If you think I’m doing it wrong, let me know.

This will be updated each month (on the first Sunday), to track my progress towards increasing my NW by 45% in 2016.  This will be based on my Equity, Cash (including credit card balance, on a 0% deal obvs) and Pension only.

Generally, a pretty nice graph to look at, especially for me.  Trending upwards in the long term, good stuff.  That’s what it’s all about.

Calculated from net income, so based on net take home plus employers pension contributions.

2016 didn’t get off to the best of starts…but things have only been improving since March.

October 2016 – Networth £117,538 (+4.9%), Saving Rate 69.8% in month, 53.3% average year to date.  Settling into that high savings rate that seemed impossible only a few years ago.

September 2016 – Networth £112,035 (+1.4%), Saving Rate 71.8% in month, 51.4% average year to date.  Keeping that savings rate nice and high 🙂

August 2016 – Networth £110,461 (+4.7%), SR 69.7% in month, 48.9% average year to date.  Keeping that savings rate nice and high 🙂

July 2016 – Networth £106,336 (+7.5%), SR 70.0% in month, 45.9% average year to date.  Another nice month on the Networth front, a sweet savings rate combined with some nice market increases.

June 2016 – Networth £98,998 (+8.0%), SR  78.3% in month, 41.9% average year to date.  Boom!  Best savings rate yet combined with some share options from work maturing means a nice month of growth.  More of these please!

May 2016NetWorth £91,690 (+4.48%), SR 57.1% in month, 34.6% average.  Networth climbed a nice amount from April, a combination of an ok savings rate at the Market also doing  bit of lifting.

April 2016NetWorth £87,755 (+5.14%), SR 72.1% in month, 29.03% average.  Ayooooo!  What a savings rate.  This was propped up by being on holiday for most of the month which had already been paid for.

March 2016NetWorth £83,463 (+0.34%), SR minus 23% in month, 14.3% average.  A month with a negative savings rate, ouch.  Networth still grew a tiny bit thanks to the market.

February 2016NetWorth £83,181 (+3.08%), SR 13.4% in month, 33.3% average.  Wedding costs are truly kicking off now!

January 2016 – NetWorth £80,695 (-2.26%), SR 53.7%.  Not the best start to the year.


2015 goals – Savings Rate 60%, Increase in NetWorth of 40%.
December 2015NetWorth £82,565, SR 64.1% in month, 59.2% average (some repaid work expenses helped and brought in a current account that was missing, d’oh)

November 2015NetWorth £78,744, SR 62.9% in month, 58.7% average (good old fashioned savings)

October 2015£73,345 – 53.9% in month, 58.3% average (Nicely nicely markets and some backdated pay).  2015 NetWorth GOAL ACHIEVED!

Sept 2015 – £66,643 – 62.6% in month, 58.8% average (Slow markets, little movement)

August 2015 – £65,028 – 66.4% in month, 58.3% average (Markets down, ouch!)

July 2015 – £67,004 – 61.8% savings rate

June 2015 – £65,058 – 59.5% in month savings rate

May 2015 – £65,139 –  61.8% in month, 55.7% average YTD

April 2015 – £64,323 – 61.4% in month, 54.2% average YTD (Markets flying since the start of the year)

March 2015 – £61,516 – 44.7% in month, 51.8% average YTD (Bonus from work not all saved 🙁  )

February 2015 – £57,984 – 60.8% in month and 55.3% average YTD

January 2015 – £54,087 – 49.9% in month and average.
